Mallorca Safe Tourism

 

The immediate mobilisation of the tourism sector in the face of the present crisis has been very remarkable.

Mallorca promotes the consolidation of a forum on safe tourism in which actors involved in the tourist industry participate, showing tangible technological solutions and protocols for safe stays that are already in place in tourist establishments, on beaches, in cultural and sporting events, in tourist places or at the airport itself.
Valueing the island's health infrastructure and giving a voice to tour operators from the main country of origin.

Innovative proposals that act as a lever in the high-quality leap towards a safe and sustainable tourism model.

The "Mallorca Turisme Segur" Forum was born out of the need to include, immediately and urgently, post-COVID19 security and sustainability measures in Mallorca.

The event took place at the university, in the Escola d'Hoteleria of Palma, on October 29th, 2020. With the following speakers:

Roberto Llamas

Head of the Management Office Division - Palma de Mallorca Airport - AENA

Roberto graduated as an Industrial Organisation Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is currently Head of the Management Body at the Palma de Mallorca airport and an advisor for the Aena airport management company.

Previously, he has held various management positions at Aena, such as Director of Ibiza Airport from 2013 to 2018, and Head of the Airport Services Division and Head of Human Resources at different airports in the Aena network, including Palma de Mallorca. He has 10 years of industrial experience in the private sector, having fulfilled various Project Management positions.

Currently, one of his main goals is to support Aena's ambitious sustainability strategy.

Patricia García Balaguer

Director of Global Brand Experience & Product Innovation in Meliá Hotels

Patricia García has a degree in Tourism from UCAM and in Psychology from the UOC. She holds a Master's Degree in Business Management Systems from the Illes balears University UIB and a Master's Degree in Risk Prevention from the UV in addition to the Global Head of Brand Experience & Product Innovation title.
She currently works at Meliá Hotels International, in the Brands and product strategy department. Previously, she has been Director of various hotels of the same chain such as "Sol House Mallorca & Sol Wave House", "Sol Katmandú Park & Resort", "Hotel Bellver by Meliá" or "Tryp San Lázaro".

Patricia Guerrero

Garden Hotels Quality Department Director

Patricia Guerrero has 24 years of experience in hospitality, has fulfilled various management positions and currently works at Garden Hotels, as Director of the Quality department, being responsible for the implementation of COVID protocols and audits. She is also the advisor to the flooring department and manages the customer satisfaction area.
Patricia is a feisty, optimistic and cheerful person, characteristics that she considers essential in the current climate.

Joan Rams

General Director of Palma Aquarium

Joan has a degree in economics and a diploma in business science from from the University of the Balearic Islands. He is currently the General Director of the Palma Aquarium.
He was previously the Palma Aquarium’s Corporate Director. Between 2006 and 2008, he held the position of Corporate Director of the Ibercon Group, as the manager responsible for the economic area. He previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Spanair airline.

Committed to environmental conservation, Joan Rams leads the team responsible for transmitting these values to visitors to the Palma Aquarium.

Cristina García

Director of Marketing Port Adriano

Cristina García has extensive professional experience in the field of marketing and strategy. Much of it has been dedicated to occupying various management positions in the world of retail and sailing, always with a clear focus on the consumer and strategic analysis.
Cristina is currently the Marketing Director of Ocibar, a company specialising in the management of private marinas, whose flagship is Port Adriano. In addition, for several years, she has also been the marketing management of Grupo Lar, the third most important company in Spain in the real estate and shopping centre sector.

Fernando Gilet

President of the Balearic Cycling Federation. Spanish Championship 2020

Born 48 years ago in Palma, the father of a large family, he has been president of the Federació de Ciclisme de les Illes Balears for two years and a member of the Delegate Commission and Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.
Graduated in Law from the University of Valencia, he has held different positions and responsibilities in both professional and sports fields.
He has also been the president of the Institut Municipal de l´Esport (2011-15), a position he was carring out while he was also Councilor for Culture and Sports in the City Council of Palma.

Xavier Pascuet

General Director of Tourism of Calvià

Graduate in Political Sciences and Sociology.
Professional in innovation and application of new technologies in tourism, with a strong background in Social Sciences and International Relations. Experience in Tourism and international business development.
From December 2018 I am General Director of Tourism in Calvià City Council and I am Counselor at Consell de Mallorca

Maria Isabel Gonzalez

General Director of Tourism of the Palma City Council

Maria Isabel Gonzalez has a degree in Geography and History from the University of Malaga and has an university degree of proficiency researcher in History of Art. She is also a graduate in Teaching.
She has developed his professional career in the field of teaching and management in historical heritage. She is currently the General Director Tourism Area at Palma City Council.

Domingo Bonnin

Deputy Mayor and Beach Coordinator of the Alcudia City Council

Domingo Bonnin is the First Deputy Mayor in the City Council of Alcudia, responsible as well for the following municipal services in Alcudia: Waste, Beaches and Environmental Management.
He was previously Director at the Consell de Mallorca and Director of IBANAT.

Juli Fuster

IB-SALUT General Director

Juli Fuster has a degree in Medicine and Surgery in the University of Barcelona.
He also has a Master in Economics and Health Management and is a specialist in Family and Community health issues.
He has been the Managing Director of the Health Service / national health service of the Balearic Islands since 2015.
PREVIOUSLY HE was the Planning and Financial General Director from the Conselleria de Salut of the Govern of the Illes Balears between 2007 and 2011 as well as a Consultant Doctor on the project "Amares Peru" sponsored by the European Union, for the Sanitation Development Scheme and the Care Quality in the Amazon Jungle from 2006 to 2007.

Toni Fuster

Manager of UBES

Antoni M Fuster is the General Manager of UBES (Balearic Union of Health Entities). He has an MBA in Health Management and a wide experience (more than 35 years) in the field of health management, having held positions of responsability both in the public and the private sector.

Manuel Molina

Hosteltur

Manuel Molina is the Editor of the touristic magazine Hosteltur. Manuel participated in the founding of Hosteltur in 1994, occupying his position as Director since 1999 and as Editor since 2019.
Hosteltur is the main communication medium for professionals in the tourism sector in Spanish, with the monthly magazine and digital newspapers www.hosteltur. com and www.hosteltur.lat

Ian Livesey

Head of Mainland Spain & Balearic Islands at TUI

Ian Livesey born in Manchester in 1971. For the last 29 years he has worked for TUI GROUP, where he has spent most of his career.

Ian has been linked to the group since 1991, holding various management positions both in the United Kingdom and in Spain, where he has lived since 1993.
In 2002 he became part of the management team of TUI Spain. In 2009, when the TUI Spain business merged with Hotelbeds, he became part of the Senior Management Team for Spain and Andorra of TUI Travel PLC.
Currently based in Palma de Mallorca, he holds the position of Head of Mainland Spain, Balearic Islands & Portugal for TUI Musement and is also responsible for the Ultramar Transport business in Spain, with about 160 vehicles and more than 400 employees.

Steve Heapy

CEO at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays

Steve worked for 17 years at a Financial Services Company in several roles, including Finance Audit, Computer Audit, Risk Management, Project Management and Project Risk Management.
In 2002 Steve joined My Travel as Head of Risk Management, and very shortly after was asked to join the Turnaround Team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Peter McHugh.
In 2005 Steve became deputy Managing Director of My Travel’s non-risk business, and in 2008 he integrated the non-risk business of My Travel and Thomas Cook, becoming Managing Director of Scheduled Business.
Steve joined Jet2holidays in November 2009 as Managing Director. The tour operator was in its infancy, having operated for a little over a year. Steve was given the responsibility to grow the brand.
After a successful two years in this post Steve was appointed as Chief Commercial Officer – Jet2.com and Jet2holidays and in 2013 Steve was promoted to Chief Executive Officer – Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.
Since then, Steve has recruited a top-class team to grow the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays businesses - Jet2.com is now the UK’s third-largest airline and Jet2holidaysis now the second-largest tour operator in the UK.
Steve is a member of the Chartered Institute of Governance, a fellow of the Institute of Travel & Tourism and a member of the Institute for Turnaround.

Carlos Fuster

Hiring Director of Schauinsland Reisen

Carlos Fuster is the Key Account Manager of the german tour operator Schauinsland Reisen.
He has more than 25 years of experience in the world of tourism, 17 years in the Alltours group as CEO of Allsun Travel and Alltours Spain -Allsun Hotels-. He began his career in hotels going through all departments until reaching the hotel management. He has worked in the Canary Islands, Germany, Switzerland and the Dominican Republic. In Mallorca Carlos spent three years in the Garden Hotels chain (1996-1998) as hotel manager. In 1999 he began working at Allsun Viajes in different positions, until he became the General Manager of Allsun Viajes (with branches in the Balearic and Canary Islands) and Allsun Hotels. Under his direction, the hotel chain then went from 13 hotels to 27 hotels. With properties under ownership and rental.
Carlos studied at the Balearic School of Tourism and also has a Master's Degree in Sales Management from ESIC Business & Marketing School.
Carlos Fuster has been also a member of Fomento del Turismo and a member of the association of travel agencies of the Balearic Islands: AVIBA.

The "Mallorca Safe Tourism" Forum has been an international event to demonstrate how Mallorca and the tourism sector have implemented Post-COVID19 security measures for visitors, information and traceability measures, in addition to highlighting the modern and specialized medical infrastructure of the island.

The Forum was followed via streaming by more than 1,000 people in Spanish and English.
